Kaelyn Carroll is Kentucky’s first McDonald’s All-American since 2020, ninth in school history

Kenny Brooks is already making history not even a full season into his tenure as Kentucky women’s basketball head coach.

It was announced Monday that Kentucky commit Kaelyn Carroll was named to the 2025 McDonald’s All-American Game roster. The 6-foot-3 wing out of Marion, Massachusetts is one of 24 high school players to make the list. Carroll was named to the East Team, where she’ll join a pair of in-state five-star recruits: ZaKiyah Johnson (LSU) and Leah Macy (Notre Dame).

Carroll is Kentucky’s first McDonald’s All-American since Treasure Hunt back in 2020. She’s also only the ninth in school history. On3 ranks Carroll as the 16th-best high school senior in the country.

Carroll is the Wildcats’ lone 2025 pledge. She committed to Brooks back in November and signed with the program a few weeks later. The Tabor Academy (MA) product chose Kentucky over the likes of South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida State, and Virginia Tech. 

“It definitely was a little bit of a difficult decision with so many great opportunities and building great relationships with all the coaches, but I just think that Kentucky was, overall, the right fit for me,” Carroll told On3. “My relationship with Kenny was just really, really strong, and I just see a great future at Kentucky.” 

The 2025 McDonald’s All-American Game will take place Tuesday, April 1 at 6:30 p.m. EST (ESPN2) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
