KSR travels to see another court-storming and explore Memorial Gym for the first time

Everything about Nashville was an absolute blast except for the game itself. Making our way to Memorial Gymnasium for the very first time, Steven Peake and I had one heck of a time watching Big Blue Nation take over the city ahead of Kentucky’s matchup at Vanderbilt. We got to meet up with our native Nashvillian Tyler Thompson, too, which is always a great time.

Then the game absolutely stunk, the Cats falling behind by 14 at halftime, only to claw back to take a seven-point lead with eight minutes and change to go, followed by a late collapse leading to a five-point loss. Snip-snap, snip-snap.

What’s it like to experience it all in real time? And more importantly, just how weird is the layout of Memorial Gym — especially for a court-storming celebration that fortunately cost the school a whopping $500K (going directly to Kentucky’s pocket)?
