Elite 2027 RB Tyson Robinson details Saturday visit to Tennessee

Jackson (Miss.) Brandon High School standout 2027 running back Tyson Robinson returned to Tennessee for the fourth time during his recruiting process on Saturday. Following Tennessee’s second Junior Day of the year, Robinson broke down the stop with Volquest.

“It was a great experience just spending all of the time with the coaches, and especially Coach Heupel, just getting to hang around with him,” Robinson said of what stood out about Saturday’s visit. “Getting to hang around with Coach Sims was a lot of fun. It was a great opportunity.”

Robinson has connected with De’Rail Sims, and the four-star back says the Vols’ running back coach is one of his best relationships in the recruiting process.

“Coach Sims is a great, hard-nosed coach, and he cares for the players, and he wants them all to be together,” Robinson said of what has stood out about his relationship with Sims.

Robinson has enjoyed connecting with Tennessee Head Coach Josh Heupel, and this was a key part of Saturday’s visit as well.

“I have seen that he is a real connectional guy,” Robinson said of Heupel. “We got to sit around and just talk in his office, and he is really cool. He sat back and was talking about school and things outside of football and just trying to build a better connection.”

The fit inside of Tennesee’s offense to Robinson has been very clear.

“I see that I am another Dylan Sampson,” Robinson said of his thoughts on the Tennessee offense. “I am hard-nosed, and I can do a bunch out of the backfield as well.”

Tennessee has certainly made a very strong impression on the young back, and he said as much following Saturday’s visit.

“I have got the strongest relationship with Tennessee by far,” the four-star back said. “Getting me to come up here and just talking to me every day is just great for me. They are far up there. They are real far up there. They are blowing everyone out of the water.”

Robinson is planning to return to Knoxville in the spring to take in one of Tennessee’s spring practices. He says Auburn, Missouri, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M, are among the teams recruiting him the hardest.
