Jalen Hurts, Cam Jurgens injury update: Philadelphia Eagles inactives revealed for NFC Championship vs. Commanders

Philadelphia Eagles center Cam Jurgens (back) is active for Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Washington Commanders.

Jurgens, who head coach Nick Sirianni called a game-time decision, tested out his back in pregame warmups where Philadelphia determined he would be unable to start, ESPN‘s Sal Paolantonio said on “Sunday NFL Countdown.” Jurgens, however, is active, albeit in a backup/emergency role.

With Jurgens expected to be out of the lineup, Landon Dickerson will slide over inside while Tyler Steen will get the start at left guard. Jurgens earned Pro Bowl honors in his first year replacing the retired Jason Kelce at center, represents a significant loss to the Eagles’ league-best offensive line if doesn’t play. Dickerson has played just 42 snaps at center in his NFL career. Dickerson was a unanimous All-American and named the nation’s best center in his senior season at Alabama.

As for quarterback Jalen Hurts, he is good to go for Sunday’s game. Hurts injured his left knee in the third quarter of last Sunday’s 28-22 NFC Divisional Round victory over the Los Angeles Rams. While Hurts did not miss a snap, he clearly looked compromised from a mobility standpoint for the majority of the second half.

Hurts will wear a knee brace during the game, ESPN‘s Adam Schefter said.

“Lots of questions about Jalen Hurts and the knee brace he’ll be wearing today. I’m told there are no limitations to Jalen Hurts’ game today,” Schefter said. “They can run the tush push, he can scramble around they way he did against the Rams. They’re not going to limit him. He looked good in practice this week and Jalen Hurts will be out there today.”

Fellow ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler provided internal insight into Hurts’ progress this week leading into Sunday’s game.

“Well, I checked with somebody with the team, they said he had a good week, that he was trying to feel out his knee issue early in the week, just to make sure he’s not put too much strain on it, but he got through it,” Fowler said on Saturday’s SportsCenter. “Feels like he can push off it and do everything he needs to help the team win, but they’re going to see how he feels on game day.

“Now he has no injury designation. It’s really more about can he run the full game plan? Can they do the run-pass option stuff with him as a runner? [Commanders] Defensive coordinator Joe Witt said, ‘look if they try to treat him like a running back, we’re going to hit him like a running back,’ so he could take a physical toll during this big game.”
