Flau’jae Johnson calls out South Carolina for nasty troll involving late father

A little bit of trash talking is to be expected after a big win, but there is a line that most know not to cross. Unfortunately, South Carolina women’s basketball appeared to go way past it as it celebrated a 66-56 victory against LSU on Friday evening.

The person in charge of the sound system played a song by rapper Camoflauge, who is the father of Tigers star Flau’jae Johnson. This might not seem like a big deal on the surface, but takes on greater significance considering that Camoflauge was murdered by gunfire in 2003 in the family’s hometown of Savannah, Georgia.

Johnson, who is herself a rapper, has often talked about the influence that her father’s music has on her own passion for it. In fact, her name is even inspired by her father’s rap name. She addressed the situation on X, formerly Twitter, on Saturday, calling out South Carolina for what she deemed “nasty behavior.”

“I’ll take my L on the chin, but this just nasty behavior,” she wrote. “Nun funny bout that.”

The loss for LSU marked its first all season as Johnson finished with 13 points on just 6-of-18 shooting. That in mind, it’s understandable why the Gamecocks would be excited after such a victory, but the DJ certainly messed up with the song selection, which feels too personal.
