Kellen Moore reacts to speculation about Dallas Cowboys head coach opening

As the Dallas Cowboys embark on their search to replace Mike McCarthy as head coach, Kellen Moore’s name came up right away. Tuesday, he reacted to the speculation around the opening.

Moore, of course, is a familiar name in Dallas. He played for the Cowboys from 2015-17 before getting his coaching career started with the franchise, beginning as quarterbacks coach in 2018 and offensive coordinator from 2019-22 under McCarthy. He then spent a year with the Los Angeles Chargers in the role and is currently with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Philadelphia defeated the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs this week, setting up a matchup against the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round. Along the way, Moore received interest from the Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints for their head coach openings. As for whether the Cowboys would be appealing, he discussed the speculation over the last 24 hours.

“I spent a lot of time there, eight years there, so [I] have plenty of relationships in that place,” Moore said. “I love it here. I’ve had so much fun here. It’s been a really fun process, and we’re in a really special situation right now, getting the chance to play this Sunday, having a chance to make a run at this thing, and that’s really all you worry about. Everything else is what it is, and we’ll see where it takes you.”
