Rumor Mill: Sooners Impress Safety Offers, OL Legacy

The Sooners ChampUBBQ was loaded with a lot of big-time, well known prospects but plenty of more quiet players enjoyed themselves in Norman. Two key safety offers and one of Oklahoma’s longest targets, yet most recent offensive line offers, all made their way to Norman this weekend.

In-State Safety Offer Loves Trip to Norman

It’s hard to imagine a player who found a more comfortable landing spot in Norman than Moore (Okla.) Westmoore safety offer Mykel Patterson-McDonald. Not only because he was so close to home but also because he was around a pair of lifelong friends – Caden Durham and David Stone.

“(I was with) those guys and Jaydan Hardy a lot,” Patterson-McDonald said. “(Jaydan and I) get closer each time we see other (and) talk.”

And as for the entirety of his latest Sooners visit?

“(The visit) went amazing,” he said. “I got to meet a lot of the new guys and we bonded well.”

Sooners Still Standing Strong for Michael Boganowski

Another safety target for Sooners position coach Brandon Hall that hit campus this weekend is Junction City, Kan. standout Michael Boganowski. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound prospect has been seen as a unique fit into Oklahoma’s defense. Something he got to discuss repeatedly with the Sooners staff.

But for Boganowski it is about more than just being a good fit on the field.

“It was a great visit got to get a good feel on what it would be like living in Norman,” Boganowski said. “It’s a great spot definitely somewhere I can see myself.”

It wasn’t that long ago that Boganowski was open in calling Oklahoma his leader but now, as he nears the expected end of his recruitment, Boganowski pulls back from that – slightly.

“There are definitely one of the schools in front.”

Brotherly Love on Sooners Visit

One of the more interesting stories to track this weekend was always going to be that of Frisco (Texas) Reedy four-star offensive tackle Max Anderson. The big tackle is the younger brother of current Sooners offensive lineman Nate Anderson.

And while Nate was a big-time recruit, to date, his on-field life hasn’t quite met up with what many had hoped.

Still though the Andersons have plenty of affinity for Oklahoma. As such it’s no surprise who hosted the younger Anderson.

“It was great man, I really enjoyed it. They had to [make Nate my host],” Anderson laughed. “Surprisingly, he was good.”

And though he loved being around his brother, the nation’s No. 9 interior offensive lineman, according to On3, was even happier with the coaches.

“Getting to really sit down with the coaches was the best part,” he explained.
