South Carolina lands tough-nosed transfer portal offensive lineman

South Carolina lands tough-nosed transfer portal offensive lineman

On Monday, South Carolina football landed its third transfer portal offensive lineman of the cycle. Boaz Stanley, a 12-game starter at Troy this fall, committed and signed with the Gamecocks.

A junior college All-American at Georgia Military in 2022, Stanley missed most of the 2023 season with an injury. However, in 2024, he became a starter for Troy, seeing significant action at both center and right tackle.

In his first year at the FBS level, Stanley gave up just two total sacks and committed zero penalties in over 700 snaps. A bit under the radar from a rankings perspective, the 6’4″, 310-pounds is a good addition.

Theoretically, the Georgia native could play any position on the offensive front for USC. Thanks to that versatility, he could challenge for playing time at several spots for the Gamecocks. Based on the players Carolina has targeted during the portal window, he likely will begin his time in garnet and black on the interior of the offensive line.

Stanley will have two or three more years of collegiate eligibility, pending the NCAA’s handling of former junior college athletes moving forward.

South Carolina had an up-and-down year on the offensive line in 2024 but played better down the stretch. The Gamecocks are losing their three interior starters (Vershon Lee, Torricelli Simpkins, and Kamaar Bell) to graduation.

Stanley is South Carolina’s ninth transfer portal commitment of the cycle. He joins fellow offensive linemen Nick Sharpe (Wake Forest) and Rodney Newsom (Western Kentucky), defensive tackle Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy (Texas A&M), linebacker Shawn Murphy (Florida State), tight end Jordan Dingle (Kentucky), EDGE Jaylen Brown (Missouri), defensive back Myles Norwood (Ball State), and quarterback Air Noland (Ohio State).

The Gamecocks have desired to bring in three offensive linemen during this portal cycle. With Stanley’s commitment, they have reached that goal.
