Clemson transfer DB Sherrod Covil commits to Virginia Tech

Clemson transfer defensive back Sherrod Covil committed to Virginia Tech, he announced via social media. He entered the transfer portal Dec. 9 with one year of eligibility remaining.

Covil spent three years at Clemson and was in the midst of a strong 2023 season before a season-ending injury. In eight games, he totaled 10 tackles prior to a torn ACL, which ended his year. In 2024, he had 12 tackles and a pass defended.

All told, during his three years at Clemson, Covil totaled 36 tackles and a tackle for loss. Now, he’s heading to Virginia Tech for his senior season.
