John Mateer signs NIL deal with 1Oklahoma after announcing transfer commitment
Wednesday night, Oklahoma made a big splash in the transfer portal, landing former Washington State quarterback John Mateer. Shortly after he made his commitment official, he announced his first NIL deal as a Sooner.
Mateer signed with 1Oklahoma, OU’s primary NIL collective. The organization played a pivotal role in bringing him to Norman, Sooner Scoop’s George Stoia III detailed, and released a video announcing his commitment to Oklahoma Wednesday night.
Oklahoma was a strong favorite to land Mateer, especially after bringing in Ben Arbuckle as its new offensive coordinator. He is the top quarterback to enter the transfer portal so far this cycle and the No. 2 overall player in the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings.
