WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

Well, of course, there was the big news last night of Miami adding TE Elija Lofton to its commitment list. We have your thoughts from Lofton plus an update with a coach who has worked with him since 7th grade and compares him to an NFL star player that might surprise you.

In other recruiting news we have for you?

OL Deryc Plazz out of Jacksonville (Fla.) Andrew Jackson High School decommitted from Penn State yesterday and then set up his Miami official visit for this weekend. We have his thoughts, so don’t miss that.

From the Mario Cristobal camp yesterday we had an update with Miami (Fla.) Palmetto wide receiver Jacory Barney. He took a third visit in a one-week span when he returned to Coral Gables for an unofficial visit. UM has recently stepped up its recruitment efforts for the South Florida native, and he updates his status.

And Miami 2024 quarterback commit Judd Anderson was not invited to this week’s Elite 11 Finals in California with the other top quarterbacks around the country, but those around him are still convinced the Hurricanes landed a future winner with massive upside. So don’t miss that feedback.

The top 50 post-spring players on the roster series continues as well. It’s a list that doesn’t include any post-spring roster additions. We have your breakdown on No. 7, S James Williams.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Roster assessment… we gonna go … Posted by Trust

10-2 or better guys. There are no holes (spotty at safety and OL) and the coordinators are good. Caveat being injuries to certain players would adjust this (mostly TVD, MLB-Mauigoa, or any starting OL,). But if healthy…

We will have 1st team All Conf level players at QB, WR, TE, OL, DT, LB and still quality guys at RB, LB, DE, S, CB, and others at WR, OL, etc. I even expect Chris Johnson (or someone else, to be an elite return guy). Davonte Brown is underrated right now, he will be very good. Should be thought of like LB Mauigoa, C Matt Lee, etc. We have 3+ quality RBs. New guy Allen, Chainey, Parrish, Fletcher… reminds me of Homer, Dallas, and Cam Harris, etc, solid backfield.

Also, here’s my top 25 players… 25 to 1

CB Couch, DE Bain, OT Mauigoa, CB Richard, LB Keontra Smith (he will surprise ppl), OG Rivers, DE Dean, DE Harvey, WR Harrel, TE Arroyo, RB Fletcher, WR George, CB Davonte Brown, DE Mesidor, TE McCormick (will surprise ppl, total TE, not just a blocker), OG Cohen, RB Parrish, S Kinchens, WR Kirk (will surpise ppl…can you say Rambo), OT Nelson, C Lee, DT Taylor, WR Restrepo (monster year), LB Mauigoa (can you say Jaelin Phillips), QB TVD

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“His upside is through the roof. He does a good job commanding the offense, has a great head on his shoulders, is very even-keeled and just continues to get better every day. He hasn’t been playing a quarterback for long (relatively) at our position (with the spread offense), and I’m really looking forward to him having an awesome senior year.”
