NC State OL Obadiah “Obi” Obasuyi enters transfer portal

NC State redshirt freshman offensive lineman Obadiah “Obi” Obasuyi entered the transfer portal Monday morning after two seasons in Raleigh.

Obasuyi did not see action in either year he was with the Wolfpack. The offensive lineman redshirted last season, a year in which he gained more than 20 pounds within NC State’s developmental program.

He is the second NC State offensive lineman to officially enter the transfer portal, joining Sean Hill, who went in as a graduate transfer on Dec. 3.

The former-three star recruit out of Alpharetta (Ga.) High, arrived to NC State as the No. 32 offensive tackle in the country, according to On3, and he was the No. 941 overall recruit in the On3 Industry Ranking.

“He’s got great work ethic,” Obasuyi’s high school coach Jason Kervin told TheWolfpacker.com after his commitment. “He’s going to work hard, he’s likable, he’s has a great personality, he fits in well. He is going to really add to the culture at NC State.”

Obasuyi also held offers from Duke, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Mississippi State and UCF among others during the recruiting process.

The 6-foot-6, 290 pound tackle was a three-sport athlete in high school, where he played basketball and threw shot put and discus on the track team.

The NCAA’s transfer portal is open from Dec. 9 until Dec. 28 during its first of two windows that players are allowed to enter it (April 16-25 in the spring).
