Penn State tweets of the day

We start with recruiting. And, specifically, how well Lewis Center, Ohio three-star Class of 2024 prospect and future Penn State quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer performed on day one of the Elite 11 Finals Wednesday night in Los Angeles, Calif. After receiving praise from media evaluators throughout much of the opening 90-minute session, On3 Director of Rankings Charles Power called Grunkemeyer his day one MVP.

“Penn State commit Ethan Grunkemeyer made his presence felt very early on at Day 1 of the Elite 11 Finals,” Power writes. “His arm jumped out from the first drill. The football came out of his hand with noticeable velocity. We thought he consistently had the most juice on his throws of any Elite 11 Finalist on Wednesday evening.

“The Lewis Center (Ohio) Olentangy product was a standout at every station. He showed the ability to drive the ball to all levels with ease. We saw him make a number of impressive throws on flag and deep-in routes.”

Grunkemeyer also finished second in the rail shot challenge, which is a day one downfield passing drill staple at the elite competition. On3’s evaluators were impressed with the senior-to-be long before that final contest, however.

Ethan Grunkemeyer has been one of the most consistent QBs early,” On3 Director of Recruiting Cha d Simmons wrote in a live update blog. “Throwing a very catchable ball.”
