Shedeur Sanders reveals why he’s playing in bowl game

Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter will play in Colorado’s bowl game, as previously confirmed by Deion Sanders. But Shedeur Sanders never thought about leaving early to prepare for the NFL.

While Colorado came up just short of the Big 12 Championship Game, the Buffaloes have an opportunity to get win No. 10 on the season. Their opponent and location is still TBD.

No matter what though, Sanders and others want to put on their best performance to leave a lasting legacy.

“Yeah, we’re playing for a purpose at the end of the day,” Sanders said on 2Legendary. “It’s for those teammates that didn’t have the seasons that they want to have, and they still got one more opportunity. So we all got to show up and show out. You know, this is my last time playing with this type of receiving core, which is amazing. You got different speeds, different everything. Because, you know, the next level is not too much 10 personnel like that. It’s more than 12 personnel. 

“So I’ll say it’s the final time to take 90% of the snaps, you know, in 10 personnel, having all those different types of weapons out there. And I really want Jimmy Horn to get in there and have his game. So that’s definitely who I want to target the most.”

In 12 games this season, Sanders saved his best for last. That’s for sure. He had 3,926 yards, 35 touchdowns, eight interceptions and a 74.2% completion percentage.

In two seasons at Colorado, Sanders has 7,156 yards, 62 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and a 71.8% completion percentage.

With just one more game in a Colorado uniform before the NFL, Sanders will surely soak it all in on the field.

“I’ll say having the mountains in the background, and having the fans be there, knowing that we changed the culture. Knowing, it was a bad mindset. Losing mindset. Two years ago. Shortly, we were able to come in and change everything,” Sanders stated. “That’s really tough, you know, on coaches. It’s tough on players. It’s tough on the environment. Because that type of stuff doesn’t really happen that often.

“Especially the way we did it, against all the odds. Against all the naysayers and people talking reckless about us for no reason. We were still able to go out there, put on a performance and change the narrative. Change the culture.”
