Lucky Charms: New 2025 quarterback name to know for Notre Dame football

Here are today’s Lucky Charms, a Monday-Thursday nightly insider notes article on Notre Dame football recruiting.

*** Notre Dame offered Massachusetts quarterback Blake Hebert over the weekend, but the 2025 passer is announcing his commitment Friday and appears to be trending strongly towards Clemson. Although Irish sources feel that Notre Dame is in good position in the recruitment of Lucedale (Miss.) George County quarterback Deuce Knight, the staff will continue to recruit more quarterbacks in the 2025 class.

The Irish have offered seven quarterbacks in the 2025 class thus far. KJ Lacey recently committed to Texas. The Irish aren’t actively recruiting Ryan Montgomery. Antwann Hill and Bryce Underwood look to be long shots for Notre Dame, and George MacIntyre is unlikely as well. That leaves Hebert, who again looks to be trending towards Clemson, and Knight.

Meet Murrieta (Calif.) Valley’s Bear Bachmeier, the No. 154 overall player and No. 10 quarterback according to the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. A source tells me that Bachmeier and Irish quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli had a productive call Tuesday, and the two parties are working out when Bachmeier can get up to campus. Bachmeier is already pretty interested in Notre Dame and would be excited about the offer if it comes to fruition, which seems likely to happen.

Bachmeier’s older brother, Hank, spent a few seasons as a quarterback at Boise State and transferred to Louisiana Tech earlier this year. His other older brother, Tiger, is a freshman wide receiver at Stanford.

*** As we reported earlier at Blue & Gold today, West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West’s Taebron Bennie-Powell, the No. 1,188 overall prospect and No. 68 “athlete” in the land per the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking, is camping at Notre Dame Thursday, and I have a hunch that if all goes well tomorrow, then he may just add the Irish to his offer sheet.

Notre Dame has Kennedy Urlacher committed and looks likely to add Tae Johnson at the safety position later this month. With one safety spot left (Davis Andrews not included), the staff may just go ahead and take Bennie-Powell for the spot if he impresses them. The two other names to know at safety currently are Malcolm Ziglar, who visits this weekend, and Oliver Miles, who I liked to land at Notre Dame for a while, but his recruitment remains a mystery.

This safety recruiting cycle has been unpredictable, and we’ll see if there’s another turn in the story Thursday with Bennie-Powell camping for the staff.

*** Washington (Okla.) High’s Nate Roberts, the No. 137 overall prospect and No. 7 tight end nationally per the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking, visited Notre Dame Tuesday, and from what I’m being told, the visit went exceptionally well. He’s a kid from just south of Oklahoma and holds an offer from the Sooners, but I’d peg the Fighting Irish as the team to beat moving forward. Keep a close eye on this four-star prospect.
