Newsstand: Michigan coach Sherrone Moore on his reaction to Bryce Underwood commitment — ‘I was ecstatic’
Tweets Of The Day
Michigan Wolverines football head coach Sherrone Moore joined Big Ten Network on national signing day, and he discussed what his reaction was when five-star QB Bryce Underwood committed late last month.
“I was elated, I was ecstatic,” Moore said. “The need and the want to have not only the best player in the country but the best player in the state of Michigan. That was huge emphasis. It’s been a huge emphasis for me to make sure we command the state of Michigan. I want the best players here to come here to Michigan. Whenever this place has been great, those players have — really the footprint. Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, even the DMV, those are the players that we’ve gotten. So it’s huge for us and obviously he’s an elite player with an elite skillset. But he’s an elite kid.”
Michigan offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell released a statement after being let go the prior day.
Michigan officially announced the signing of Underwood, meaning the Wolverines brought in the No. 1 overall recruit in the nation for the first time since 2016.
Here’s Michigan basketball head coach Dusty May’s postgame speech to his team after a 67-64 win over Wisconsin Tuesday night. The Wolverines won on the road against Wisconsin with fans in the stands for just the second time since 2014.
Quote Of The Day
“Donovan’s a big back. He’s big, strong, physical. Came off of an ACL last year. Came back strong. Feels good. I feel like he’s going to be… he was one of the top backs in the country the year before. Before he got hurt, and thought he was a dynamic player. And then continued to get better and started to progress. And you can see the progression now. So, he’s going to be a good player for us.”
