Florida flips elite safety Hylton Stubbs from Miami

Jacksonville Mandarin four-star safety Hylton Stubbs has flipped his commitment from Miami to Florida, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

He was pledged to the Hurricanes since July 4, but is now set to join forces with four-star quarterback Tramell Jones, his high school teammate, at the next level in Gainesville. Stubbs is also a one-time USC commit.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder is the No. 58 overall prospect and No. 4 safety in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 8 player in Florida.

Stubbs continued to keep the Gators warm and traction began to pick up once Jones flipped to UF from Florida State. The blue-chip defensive back now continues an absurd run of recruiting victories for Billy Napier and Co. ahead of National Signing Day.

Upon decommitting from USC in the summer, Stubbs quickly whittled his list of top schools down to Florida and Miami. The Hurricanes won out on July 4, but it’s the Gators that are now positioned to land Stubbs’ signature in just a couple of days.

Florida continues nuclear run of recruiting wins

The Gators can’t go a day without flipping a blue-chip recruit down the stretch.

On Sunday night, it was four-star defensive lineman Joseph Mbatchou, who re-joined the class after flipping from Texas. On Saturday, four-star offensive tackle Tavaris Dice flipped from Auburn. Four-star EDGE Jayden Woods flipped from Penn State on Friday.

Jones kickstarted UF’s momentum by flipping from FSU on Nov. 17. Four-star running back Byron Louis and three-star interior lineman Daniel Pierre-Louis also flipped to the Gators from the Seminoles last month.
