Where does Penn State rank in the latest College Football Playoff Poll and what’s the projected bracket?

We’re down to just one week remaining in college football’s regular season and Penn State sits in a great position to not only earn a spot in the playoff but also host a first-round game. Following Tuesday night’s release, the Nittany Lions remain at No. 4 in the College Football Playoff Poll. A win over Maryland on ‘Senior Day’ should all but secure a home game Dec. 20-21.

Who exactly Penn State will play won’t be clear until Dec. 8, but as of today, the projected bracket has the Lions as a No. 6 seed, facing No. 11 Indiana.

There was no shortage of drama this past weekend, and that had a big impact on the spots below Penn State. Indiana’s loss at Ohio State dropped the Hoosiers down to No. 10 in the poll. That could’ve been lower if not for three SEC schools – Alabama, Ole Miss and Texas A&M – all losing on the road themselves this past weekend. The Aggies still control their own path to the playoff if they can defeat Texas this weekend and then win the SEC Championship. The Crimson Tide and Rebels, however, do not control their path to the playoff, as they’re now ranked No. 13 and No. 14, respectively.
