KSR Today: It’s Louisville Week (and Thanksgiving and many other things)
It’s here, Big Blue Nation: Louisville Week (or Thanksgiving Week to some). Even though many of us are still recovering from the trip to Texas, we have a quick Monday turnaround to get ready for the Cardinals and the holiday season. There are several basketball games to watch this week, too, so these are busy, busy, busy times around KSR HQ. I also have a cross-country road trip to Seattle to pack for at some point. The KSR crew leaves for the UK-Gonzaga game next weekend.
But first, we have a celebration to lead off a new rundown…
Eight straight SEC Championships for Kentucky Volleyball
Kentucky Volleyball won its 10th straight SEC match on Sunday, sweeping Arkansas (26-24, 25-20, 25-13) on Senior Day at Historic Memorial Coliseum. With the win, Kentucky clinched at least a share of the SEC Championship for an eighth straight year, a remarkable run of success for Craig Skinner and his program.
At 13-2, Kentucky can win the league outright with a win in Columbia, Missouri, on Wednesday. Follow that one at 8 p.m. on SEC Network+ at 8 p.m. Florida and Texas each have two matches still to go in the regular season and could potentially tie the Wildcats if UK doesn’t clinch the outright title at Mizzou.

At noon today, Mark Stoops will look back at Texas and preview Kentucky’s next opponent during his Monday press conference on campus, our last Monday conversation with Stoops of the 2024 season. This week, he and the Wildcats shift their focus to rival Louisville and the Governor’s Cup in the regular season finale at Kroger Field.

Kentucky is a home ‘dog against Louisville
Playing at home, the Wildcats are underdogs in this year’s Governor’s Cup. Kentucky is getting 3.5 points against the Cardinals, with a point total of 48.5. Want UK to win? You’ll find the moneyline around +142.
“Freaking strap it up and let’s go.”
After Kentucky’s loss in Austin, Brad White said he would challenge the team to put the record behind them and rise to the occasion in the Governor’s Cup this week.
“You’re playing a rivalry game,” said White. “It doesn’t matter if you’re 10-0 or 0-10, they are and we are. Throw records out the window in these kind of games. Freaking strap it up and let’s go. We’ve got to execute better, they’re a good football team. We’ll get on that (Sunday) and attack the week.”
Kentucky Basketball hosts Western Kentucky tomorrow

Kentucky Basketball returns to Rupp Arena on Tuesday evening to play Western Kentucky University. The Hilltoppers are 3-2 so far this season, with losses to Wichita State and Grand Canyon to open the year, followed by three consecutive wins over Campbellsville, Lipscomb, and Jackson State. You can watch Game 6 for both teams at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN, part of the BBN Invitational round robin.

The new college basketball Top 25 will be revealed
Kentucky will likely climb further up the AP College Basketball Top 25 when it is updated later today. The unbeaten Wildcats currently rank ninth, but a loss by sixth-ranked Purdue should open at least one spot ahead of the Wildcats.
On the women’s side, Kenny Brooks‘ Wildcats hope to move to see a jump from 15th when the Women’s Top 25 is reordered.
Kentucky WBB plays in the Music City Classic tomorrow
Kentucky Women’s Basketball plays on back-to-back days in Nashville beginning tomorrow. First, the Cats play Arizona State (3-2) on Tuesday evening. Then, they’ll turn around and play Illinois on Wednesday. It’s all part of the Music City Classic at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville. You can stream those games on Ballertv.
