Maryland at Penn State odds: Early point spread released, How to Watch

Maryland and Penn State are set to square off in the regular season finale in a Big Ten matchup and the odds are in.

Maryland is coming off a 29-13 loss to Iowa in its penultimate game. Meanwhile, Penn State is coming off a 26-25 win against Minnesota.

According to FanDuel, Penn State opened as a 24.5 point favorite. The total for the game was set at 48.5 points.

If you want to bet the moneyline, Penn State is a -4000 favorite while Maryland is the underdog at +1400.

Ahead of Maryland, Penn State coach James Franklin was adamant about the gap between the Big Ten and SEC. There’s not much of one according to him.

Regardless if Penn State is bound to the Big Ten Championship or not, Franklin believes this is the best of college football.

You know why? There’s a larger gap between the SEC and Big Ten combined compared to the rest of college football.

“You look at our conference from top to bottom, I know everybody, all coaches, kind of get up talk about their conference, and they’re biased, but I think the metrics and the data speak about it. You look at our conference, the Big Ten and the SEC, I don’t think it’s even close,” Franklin said. “You better be ready week in and week out.

“I don’t think the staff and the players get enough credit for how hard that is. When I talk about staff, the assistants and the coordinators, how hard it is to week in and week out to have your team ready to play. The players are really doing a great job with that. So are the assistant coaches.”

Maryland and Penn State have met 47 times but the rivalry is extremely one sided in favor of the Nittany Lions. Penn State leads it 43-3-1 but last lost in 2020. 

Maryland lost to Penn State in 2023 51-15 in College Park.
