4-star EDGE Zahir Mathis decommits from Ohio State

Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep Institute four-star EDGE Zahir Mathis has decommitted from Ohio State, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Mathis had been committed to the Buckeyes since January, when he chose them over Penn State and more than 20 other offers.

“After much consideration I’ve decided to reopen my recruitment and decommit from Ohio State,” he wrote on Twitter. “I appreciate Coach Day, Coach Johnson and all the coaches at Ohio State. They are still a top school for me. This is a life decision. Please respect my decision!”

The 6-foot-5, 235-pounder is the No. 95 overall prospect in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 10 EDGE and No. 3 recruit in Pennsylvania.
