AT&T Stadium blacks out windows for Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing match

On Friday, AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, is hosting the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson boxing match. Ahead of the highly-anticipated bout, the stadium’s official X account posted a photo of the setup for the event.

However, before the stadium’s social media team even had time to reconsider the post, several eagle-eyed Cowboys fans noticed something peculiar in the photo. Several of the windows near the top rows of the stadium had curtains in front of them.

While this may seem normal to the common fan, the sight infuriated Cowboys fans. In the Cowboys’ 34-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, the sun shined so bright through the same windows that negatively impacted the Cowboys on several occasions.

Specifically, Cowboys receiver Ceedee Lamb missed an easy three-yard touchdown catch due to the blinding sunlight. The moment enraged Dallas fans, who were forced to watch their beloved Cowboys drop to 3-6 on the season.

After the loss, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones defended the organization’s decision to not block out the sunlight with curtains during the game.

“Every team that comes in here has the same issues,” Jones said. “They know where the sun is going to be. Every team has the same thing. I’m not saying (it’s on McCarthy). I’m saying the world knows where the sun is. We get to know that almost a year in advance. So someone asked me about the sun. What about the sun? Where’s the moon? We’re fine. But everybody plays in the sun out here.

“By the way, we know where the sun is going to be when we flip the coin, so we do know where the damn sun is going to be in our own stadium,” Jones said. “Let’s just tear the damn stadium down and build another one. Are you kidding me?”

The issue is particularly potent in AT&T Stadium because the end zones are on the east and west corners of the stadium while most fields in the NFL face north and south. Evidently, Jones isn’t interested in the excuses.
