Booger McFarland reacts to Quinn Ewers standout performance vs. Florida

Coming out of the bye week for Texas, getting Quinn Ewers back in a rhythm was a huge storyline. Since Ewers came back from his injury, the Longhorns have not played consistently on offense. The quarterback was a huge part of why and a boost was needed to make a push in the backend of the season.
Well, Ewers delivered and then some against Florida. Texas put 49 points on the board and cruised to a victory in Austin. ESPN’s Booger McFarland reacted to Ewers’ performance during halftime of Saturday’s Georgia–Ole Miss game, coming away quite impressed.
“I think the oblique is healthy,” McFarland said. “I think Texas got the message and today, Quinn Ewers looked like a quarterback that could lead the Texas Longhorns into the Playoff. They looked really good today against an undermanned Florida squad.”
Ewers completed 19 of 27 passes, going for 33 yards and five touchdowns. Wide receiver Matthew Golden was the only player to catch multiple scores, with three others getting on the stat sheet as well. At the very least, it’s the type of performance you expect when Florida is down multiple guys in the secondary — as McFarland pointed out.
