GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA — Myles Graham, Florida’s 4-star linebacker commit, said after officially visiting the Gators this weekend his recruitment is completely shut down.
“No more OVs,” Graham told Corey Bender of Gators Online on Sunday.
This is big because Graham is the No. 5 linebacker and No. 52 overall recruit nationally according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
He was joined on his official by multiple family members, including his father, former Gator running back great Earnest Graham.
“Coming on an OV is definitely different, having a host take care of you,” Graham said. “It’s a great experience. Obviously that’s not how it’s going to be when I get here. It was different. It just showed me I definitely made the right decision and I’m just glad to be here. My family is confident in the decision and we’re all ready. I’m ready to be a Gator.”
For Graham, it was a good chance to bond with the Florida coaching staff.
“I’m really close with all the coaches — Coach (Billy) Napier, Coach (Austin) Armstrong, Coach (Jay) Bateman — of them,” Graham said. “We’re just building the relationship every time we see each other. … This was my first time meeting with Coach Armstrong. He showed me how he wants me to play in the defense. … I enjoyed hearing that from him. He’s real passionate about it and he’s real confident in me. He can see me being the best linebacker in the nation.”
Graham’s player-host, linebacker Shemar James, spoke highly about the program. And he wasn’t alone.
“That’s my guy,” Graham said of James. “I know all those (linebackers), I look up to them. They love it here. Shemar loves it. He enjoys every day being a Gator.”
Myles Graham helped the Gators recruit this weekend
Graham also wanted to recruit on his visit. And, he said, that was a success.
“It went great,” Graham said. “We made some real good progress with some guys. We’ll be having some commitments in the next couple weeks for sure. … Here, we made good progress with (receiver) Chance Robinson, (defensive lineman Michai Boireau) and (offensive tackle) Mike Williams.”
Graham plans to be back on campus this summer. One event he will attend is the “Grille in the Ville” in July.
