Flip target: UGA commitment shines in Alabama football camp

Micah Debose, ’25 Top 100 offensive lineman from Vigor High School in Prichard, Alabama, returned to Tuscaloosa on Wednesday for the Crimson Tide’s third football camp this month. Debose, who had an offer from Alabama prior to camp, drew heavy praise for his performance.
He remains one of the top priority targets for Nick Saban and offensive line coach, Eric Wolford. He told BOL earlier in the week the goal for Wednesday- win every rep and impress the Tide coaches.
“The camp was great,” Debose said. “I feel like I did great. I got to work with Coach Wolf (Wolford) and see how he coaches his players. I liked working with him a lot. I can definitely see myself playing at Bama.”

Debose received an offer from Alabama on February 8. The offer was extended less than a month after Debose announced a commitment to Georgia. He returned to Tuscaloosa for Junior Day (March 4), and has continued to grow his relationship with the Alabama coaching staff.
“Coach Wolf (Wolford) is a great coach,” he said. “I love Coach Wolf. “If I do flip it will be because of him and Coach (Kevin) Steele (area recruiter). Coach Steele is also a great coach. I’ve built a great relationship with him.
“Coach Wolf is a very laid back coach, but he’ll tell you like it is. He tells you the truth. That’s what I like about him. Coach Steele is a funny guy. I’ve had some great conversations and phone calls with him.”
Coach Saban made a strong emphasis on how great of an addition for Debose to join Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class (currently ranked No. 2 per the On3 Sports Industry Team Rankings).

Alabama making things tough for Debose

A flip from the Bulldogs isn’t imminent. Debose does, however, plan to return to Tuscaloosa for another visit in late July.
“They are going to make it hard,” Debose said regarding his high interest in the in-state school. “They are definitely heavily pursuing me. If I am going to flip, they are the ones who can make it happen. They are making it very tough.”
Debose likes how hard Alabama pushes its players and even the high school camp participants. He said he wants to attend a powerhouse program and see how much he can improve overall.
“Alabama has great tradition on the offensive line,” he told BOL on Monday. “They are dogs. They have a history of developing great players in general. They produce great players on the o-line, wide receiver, defensive line, defensive backs. Overall, they have a great history. It’s Alabama.”

The momentum appears to favor the Crimson Tide, but Debose has not flipped his decision. He remains solid with his commitment to Georgia and stressed the importance of the relationships with coaches who will determine his final destination.
“My commitment has been great,” Debose said. “Most people think I committed to Georgia because they won back-to-back championships. That’s a good factor, but I committed because of the relationship I built with Georgia and Coach (Stacy) Searles.
“Relationships are big for me in general. I’ll flip to another school if I feel like I have a better relationship with the coaches. I do still feel like my strongest connections are with the Georgia coaches. Most schools overlooked me at the start of my recruitment.”
Georgia offered Debose last summer, and he has visited Athens several times. He also returned last weekend for camp. He is keeping the door open for more than just Alabama. Debose visited Florida State on Saturday. He also wants to see Clemson, Colorado, LSU, Miami, Ohio State and Penn State.
