Texas A&M opted to throw for it on 4th-and-3 at LSU’s 42 yard line, but Conner Weigman’s pass was batted down at the LOS. The junior is now just 5 of 14 for 49 yards in the first half. Could Mike Elko turn to Marcel Reed for a spark coming out of halftime?

The Aggies just went 3-and-out again (Conner Weigman is just 3-of-10 for 38 yards) and now LSU is quickly driving for another score before halftime. The Aggies’ defense can’t touch Garrett Nussmeier right now, and he’s slicing up the secondary with throws from all arm angles.
Aaron Anderson goes ZOOM to the house

On a simple crossing route, Garrett Nussmeier had his longest completion of the season for a 77-yard touchdown to Aaron Anderson. Texas A&M’s safety took a horrible angle, missing the tackle and watching the 5-8 speedster blow pas the defense untouched for a house-call.

Texas A&M is starting to shoot itself in the foot with self-inflicted errors in pass protection (busted assignment led to a sack), penalties (holding call, false start) and then a face-mask on defense.

A 10-play drive proved fruitless after the usually-reliable kicker Damian Ramos pushed a 48-yard field goal wide left. The hold was really poor, throwing off Ramos’ timing.

The Tigers are driving once again, with Nussmeier carving up the Aggies’ defense on third downs. He’s completed a 3rd-and-15 that went for 33 yards to Kyren Lacy and later had a 21-yard pass to Lacy on 3rd-and-7.
Moss atones, Aggies answer

Le’Veon Moss atoned for his fumble with a 37 yards rushing on four carries, capped by a 7-yard touchdown run to put Texas A&M on the board. The Aggies converted two key 3rd-and-longs on the drive — the first surprising LSU’s aggressive defense with a 11-yard run on 3rd-and-8.

LSU capitalized on Moss’ fumble, cashing in the short field into a quick touchdown drive. Garrett Nussmeier is heating up with some early dimes. He found tight end Mason Taylor, who dropped a perfect touchdown pass on the first play of the drive, in the back of the end zone on a short play-action fade to give the Tigers a 10-0 lead.
Le’Veon Moss fumbles

LSU has leaned on takeaways this season, and Tigers safety Sage Ryan punched the ball out of Aggies’ star tailback Le’Veon Moss on a little screen pass. To make matters worse, Texas A&M was flagged for a personal foul after the playing, giving LSU another 10 yards and excellent field position (ball on TAMU 20-yard line).

The Tigers marched right down the field on their second drive, but the long possession (87 yards, over 5:25 off the clock) stalled inside the red zone after the Aggies bowed up. LSU had to settle for a field goal, but it stressed Texas A&M’s defense with a couple Caden Durham catches out of the backfield (two for 46) and three Justin Williams runs (14 yards). The Aggies had some tackle issues that need to get sorted out.

After a facesmask penalty gave Texas A&M a free first down, LSU quickly got off the field, sacking Conner Weigman (Bradyn Swinson has been a revelation for the Tigers this season) and then recording a TFL on tailback Le’Veon Moss.

Explosive wideout Chris Hilton Jr. is set to make his 2024 debut after missing LSU’s first seven games with an ankle injury. Hilton has battled a variety of injuries throughout his career, limiting the senior to just 20 career games. But he averaged over 18 yards per catch in 2023.
