Veterans lead the way in Iowa’s victory

Early in the season, college basketball teams tend to lean on their veteran players to lead the way. That was the case on Friday night as Iowa pulled away for a 102-81 victory over Minnesota-Duluth as the Hawkeye veterans paced their attack in scoring. It was senior Payton Sandfort scoring 23 points to lead the way. He was followed closely by junior Josh Dix, who had 22 points, 17 of those coming in the second half. Also, sophomore big man Owen Freeman dominated the paint, scoring 21 points and pulling down 8 rebounds.

Following the Friday night exhibition victory, Sandfort and Freeman spoke to the media about their strong start to the second half and the positive contributions from their teammates.
