Rece Davis predicts LSU to beat Texas A&M

Ahead of the Top-15 matchup this weekend between the top two teams in the standings for the SEC, Rece Davis has made his pick for No. 8 LSU vs. No. 14 Texas A&M.

After breaking down the game on the ‘College GameDay Podcast’, Davis went with the Tigers to go and get a win in College Station.

“I really like LSU in that game,” said Davis.

Both LSU and Texas A&M come in with an overall record of 6-1. Each lost their opener to ranked opponents at the time but have since won all six of their games since. The Aggies do have one more conference win as they’ve beaten Florida, Arkansas, Missouri, and Mississippi State. The Tigers then have three wins over South Carolina, Ole Miss, and Arkansas.

Now, in a pack of seven teams with one loss or less in the league and six teams at 6-1 overall, LSU and Texas A&M are the last two undefeated teams in the Southeastern Conference. However, one is getting that first loss to the other on Saturday.

As for why he went with LSU, Davis thinks their play on the defensive side will be the difference. With both teams averaging over 30 ppg., the Tigers’ defense will be the unit that he thinks makes enough happen.

“I just don’t know because of some of the concerns that you brought up with Conner Weigman. I’m not sure I believe they can score enough and often enough, especially with LSU’s defensive improvement and some of the havoc that they’re causing under Blake Baker,” Davis said.

Either way, this should be a great game as the highest-ranked one of the weekend in primetime, especially with its conference and playoff implications. Davis is just leaning with LSU to win outright again this season and get their first victory in Aggieland since 2016

“I really like LSU to go into Kyle Field and win the game on Saturday night.”
