Packed recruiting intel: NC State camp notes, June 10

NC State ended its second camp weekend with an absolutely packed session that included visits from two key class of 2025 prospects and a rising senior who holds a host of SEC offers.

Let’s wrap things up with one more notebook, featuring intel on four-star quarterback Bryce Baker, three-star cornerback Tyler Redmond and much more.

Four-star ’25 quarterback Bryce Baker

I spoke to Baker and multiple sources close to the quarterback Saturday, and the consensus is clear. NC State has done a fantastic job recruiting the four-star signal-caller. The Wolfpack extended an offer in January and immediately made him a clear priority.

During Saturday’s visit, Baker arrived at campus early in the morning and met with quarterbacks coach Kurt Roper. Then, the Wolfpack assistant put the four-star prospect through a personal workout. Baker said that is the first time a staff has done that, which he really appreciated.

He plans on narrowing down his top schools list to at least seven this fall and committing in the spring. The Pack remains in a really solid spot.

“NC State is definitely high on the list,” Baker said.

The quarterback will be watching the Wolfpack closely on the field this year. He said a successful season would matter to him.

On the field, Baker played well. He can make every throw and the ball absolutely flies out of his hand. His throwing motion is very smooth. During his individual workout, Roper really tested his ability to throw on the run, and his ability to maintain ball velocity while moving really impressed me.

Baker did not have to go through combine exercises, but he chose to and put up some really impressive numbers. He measured 6-2, 187 pounds and ran a 4.72 40-yard dash. Last year at camp, the quarterback said he ran in the 4.9s, and he hopes to eventually hit the 4.5s. Baker also broad jumped 9-10.

Three-star ’25 cornerback Tyler Redmond

Redmond, a priority cornerback from Georgia, made the trip up because he had a teammate participating in camp, and he also has genuine love for the Wolfpack. He spent most of the day with cornerbacks coach Brian Mitchell and director of scouting Jatavis Sanders.

The defensive back said his bond with the Wolfpack goes beyond football, and he really appreciates the overall culture and atmosphere of the program.

“It just feels right, being around the players and stuff,” Redmond said.

Three-star wide receiver Christian Zachary

Christian Zachary recently committed to UVA, but he stopped by camp Saturday to talk to the staff before leaving. Both offensive coordinator Robert Anae and head coach Dave Doeren spoke with the three-star prospect from South Carolina. He is listed at 6-3 and could be a potential pass-catching prospect to watch moving forward.

Three-star ’24 cornerback Kal-El Pascal

Kal-El Pascal holds offers from Georiga, Auburn, Texas A&M and many others. The Wolfpack definitely seemed interested in the defensive back from Florida, who impressed during camp. He did not hold an NC State offer going into the event.

’24 cornerback Jaren Sensabaugh

There was a lot of buzz around Jaren Sensabaugh at camp Saturday. He stood out at cornerback during drills and measured 6-0.5 tall, running a 4.61 40-yard-dash. Duke offered him earlier this week, Vanderbilt is interested and he also holds a scholarship from Marshall. If NC State offers, Sensabaugh told TheWolfpacker.com that the program would immediately be one of his top schools. The cornerback previously visited for a game day last fall.

Additional camp notes

Class of 2025 receiver Wisdom Whipper-Daniel just transferred to Independence High, and he is an intriguing athlete to keep an eye on moving forward. At 6-0, 189 pounds, he looked very solid during drills. He is also close friends with priority Wolfpack wide receiver prospect Jordan Shipp.

Rising juniors Nasir Newkirk and Chase Collier received some individual attention from wide receiver coach Joker Phillips and went through a drill separate from the rest of the campers. They both measured over 6-0 and clocked 4.62 40 times.
