Recruiting Intel: UNC four-star de-commitment Simeon Wilcher

Four-star Simeon Wilcher made headlines this week when the class of 2023 guard de-committed from North Carolina. Wilcher had been committed to the Tar Heels for 18 months, and while there were questions about his staying committed to UNC from the get-go, he maintained his pledge until the eleventh hour.

Quickly after his de-commitment, Wilcher set up a visit to St. John’s. Wilcher, a New Jersey native who played at Roselle (NJ) Roselle Catholic, visited Rick Pitino this weekend. Sources close to the recruitment are very confident to say the Red Storm is carrying all of the momentum here. One source suggested looking for this one to be done soon.

Wilcher ended up the No. 38 ranked player in the final 2023 On3 150. He is the No. 8 shooting guard in his class and the No. 4 ranked player in New Jersey. Wilcher holds the No. 36 spot in the 2023 On3 Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average from all four major recruiting sites.

Simeon Wilcher would be the 12th new player that Rick Pitino has brought into the program since taking over this offseason. He would join four-star Brady Dunlap in the Red Storm’s 2023 high school recruiting class.

2023 four-star Simeon Wilcher’s current On3 NIL Valuation is $89,000. Wilcher is the No. 81 ranked player in the On3 High School Basketball NIL Rankings.
