Micah Parsons injury update: Dallas Cowboys LB reveals status heading into 49ers game
Dallas Cowboys (3-3) linebacker Micah Parsons said Monday that his status is “up in the air” for this Sunday’s Week 8 road contest against the San Francisco 49ers (3-4).
“It’s still [up] in the air,” Parsons said, via Joseph Hoyt of alldlls.com. “Obviously it’s more than just me. I have to clear it with [Cowboys director of rehab] Britt [Brown], the coaches, the head coach. They want to make sure — obviously because there’s so many games left — that I come back at the best result. Sometimes, it’s not always the player’s decision. It’s the people with the higher pay grade.”
Parsons, 25, has missed the last two games after suffering a high-ankle sprain in the Week 4 win over the New York Giants (2-5). Prior to Week 5 against the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2), Parsons had never missed a game due to injury.
Parsons has not practiced since sustaining the injury, however, head coach Mike McCarthy said he is making progress.
“He’s doing good,” McCarthy said. “He was here every day [during the bye week]. Micah is making progress.”

The Cowboys could certainly use the two-time All-Pro back in the lineup, especially coming off the 47-9 blowout defeat to the Detroit Lions (5-1) in Week 6. Dallas has generated 14 sacks through six games, just one coming from Parsons in the four games he has featured in.
Parsons said he feels good to go physically, though time will tell if his return comes against San Francisco.
“I don’t think there’s anything I can’t do physically,” Parsons said. “Like I said, it’s just more they want to make sure I’m at my best and they kind of know what my best looks like, and so it’s just one thing that just got to keep working and showing it. They’re monitoring the situation.”
