Florida State Offers Talented 2026 QB; Pair of explosive DT’s shine at Individual Camp

Florida State Offers Talented 2026 QB; Pair of explosive DT’s shine at Individual Camp

Florida State legacy 2026 QB Romin Seymour lands offer.

Over the course of Florida State’s quarterback and individual camps, a few players caught the eyes of Mike Norvell and the Seminole coaching staff.

The prospect who drew the most attention was 2026 quarterback Romin Seymour. Seymour is the son of former Seminole defensive-end, and national champion, Roland Seymour.

After camp ended in the afternoon, the 6-foot-4 signal-caller from Manvel, Texas did get an offer from Florida State.

“It feels amazing, like amazing,” Seymour said. “I’m very excited…growing up all we did was watch Florida State, even through the struggle years, even through the good years we’ve been watching Florida State all this time so it’s just an amazing feeling.”

The 2026 recruit also got to chat with coach Norvell and quarterbacks coach Tony Tokarz during and after the camp.

“Coach Norvell said he liked that I was very coachable and he liked how the ball flew out my hand,” said Seymour. “Coach Tokarz said that he just liked my work ethic and he liked the way I was throwing the ball and just competing.”

Seymour hopes to come back up to Tallahassee again for a game, something the legacy prospect has never done.

Another player who raised some eyebrows was 2025 three-star tight end Logan Brooking. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound prospect from Savannah is listed as the 26th-best player in the state of Georgia and the ninth-best tight end nationally, according to On3.

“I thought the atmosphere was awesome it was just a good experience overall,” Brooking said. “I got to compete with some pretty good guys, and other than that Coach Norvell’s pretty cool. I liked him a lot, but I loved it today.”

Two priorities that were on Brooking’s to-do list: Talk with Norvell and, perhaps just as importantly, tight ends coach Chris Thomsen.

“Early in my recruiting process, I want to get to know position coaches and stuff like that and how well I like them and how well they like me,” he said. “Overall I love Coach Thomsen, he’s awesome. It was good to learn new techniques that I’m not quite polished on yet and get better with him.”

Brooking’s next stop will be Clemson for another camp, followed by a few other stops including Alabama.

Dynamic Duo of 2025 DT’s shine, very high on Florida State

The opening day of the individual camps produced some defensive standouts too, namely Newberry 2025 defensive linemen Mykah Newton & Jarquez Carter. Both enjoyed big days on Friday.

Carter was one of the most explosive defensive lineman in just about every aspect of camp at Florida State. He showed great power and very good quickness off the snap, drawing a lot of praise from FSU defensive line coach Odell Haggins throughout the day. Haggins even did some additional work with Carter between water breaks.

The 6-foot-3, 270-pound prospect talked about his time working with the legendary defensive line coach.

“It was hard. You have to do everything perfect but I really like him a lot,” Carter said. “He taught me a lot about keeping my hands up and being ready… with Coach Haggins he’s always real with you. Other coaches will sweet talk you but he’s very real. One hundred percent he’s been that way (since) the first time I met him.”

So how does the massive defensive tackle now feel about the ‘Noles?

“I grew up on Florida State and I’ve always loved Coach Odell,” he said. “With their defensive line, you notice how fast they get off the ball. You see that with Jared Verse on how quick he shoots his hands out there and I love that.”

Carter said that he’s coming back to Florida State on July 29th, a weekend that Florida State could host a summer finale for top recruits.

“On that visit I would want to see more of the school and really just be around the players more,” said Carter.

Next there was Newton, who was equally impressed with how this camp went. The 6-foot-3, 250-pounder talked about working with Haggins and coach John Papuchis on the defensive line.

“I had a great day today,” Newton said. “I learned a lot from Coach Haggins. He puts you in the right positions and adjusts a few things with your stance and hand placement. You see a big difference in the reps when you follow through on the teaching.”

Like his teammate Carter, Newton grew up a fan of the Seminoles.

“I really liked FSU growing up and I wanted to get in this environment and go through the experience,” Newton said.
