Fairfax (Va.) four-star linebacker Kris Jones has locked in an official visit to Michigan State. He announced on Twitter that he’ll be on campus June 11-13.
The trip to East Lansing will be the first for Jones who started off the month with an official visit to Florida. He also has an official to Georgia set for June 16.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder is the No. 149 overall prospect and No. 15 linebacker in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Virginia.
According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), Florida holds a commanding lead in Jones’ recruitment. The Gators sit with an 86% chance to land his pledge.
Unseating Florida at the top of Jones’ favorites will be hard for any school to do at the moment. Following his latest visit Jones had nothing but fond things to say about Gainesville after meeting other top recruits, coaches and committed prospects.
“I feel like the living situation, I’ll be fine down here and it’s great weather,” Jones told On3’s Chad Simmons. “I have a bond with some of the recruits down here so I feel like it would be a great fit. I’ve always felt high about Florida and this just put them another step up.”
Kris Jones currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $88K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Jones would be a much-needed win for Mel Tucker
If Michigan State is able to impress Jones and pull him away from Florida, it would a huge win for Mel Tucker and the Spartans. It would also be a much-needed win on the recruiting trail in what’s been a slow start to the cycle.
Michigan State currently has the No. 55 class in the country and No. 12 class in the Big Ten with three commitments so far.
The Spartans current commitments are all three-star prospects and include Murfreesboro (Tenn.) three-star cornerback Jaylen Thompson, Mount Pleasant (Mich.) offensive tackle Andrew Dennis and Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy offensive tackle Logan Bennett.
