Miami battling Notre Dame, others for 3-star LB Keyshawn Flowers as Hurricanes OV approaches: “They’ve shown a lot of love”

Severn (Md.) Archbishop Spalding 2024 three-star linebacker Keyshawn Flowers has been recruited hard by Miami, Notre Dame and other programs, so he couldn’t be more excited to head down to Coral Gables for his official visit this weekend.

Flowers, the No. 489 overall prospect and No. 52 linebacker in the class, has been a key target for Miami, Notre Dame, Virginia and Maryland as the year has progressed. Flowers visited Coral Gables for the first time on an unofficial visit April 1 and said the Hurricanes made a serious impression, and the Hurricanes are the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine’s slight favorite to land the 6-foot-1.5, 215-pound linebacker.

“I’d definitely put them in my top three, top two teams in my recruitment right now,” Flowers said. “We’ve been communicating a lot through the recruiting process, and I’ve been getting to know the coaches and building a relationship with them.”

Miami hasn’t pressured Flowers but has talked to Flowers about playing early and having the opportunity to make an impact as a true freshman, which he said will play a factor in his decision. Flowers added player development will also play a major role and has taken note of the Hurricanes’ recruiting effort.

“I think out of all of the schools, they’re recruiting me the hardest,” Flowers said. “At least top three hardest, for sure.”

Flowers will bring his family to Coral Gables for the first time when he arrives for his June 9 official visit and plans to commit in late summer before the start of his senior season. Other programs talk to Flowers about potential commitments as well, although he has remained patient about his decision-making process.

“Shoot, (Miami) showed a lot of love,” Flowers said. “It seems like they’ve got a plan for me. That’s why I’ve been very interested. They’ve shown a lot of love and said they can build something there. I already went there once for an unofficial and went there for a couple of days, and it was really nice, so I’ll go back up there with my family and just have some fun.”

CaneSport’s Take

Flowers’ potential and upside has seriously attracted Miami and Notre Dame, and he additionally holds offers to Alabama, Tennessee, Oklahoma, USC and other programs although he’s narrowed down his list significantly.

Miami already has one linebacker commit in the 2024 class with three-star Vincent Shavers, and the Hurricanes are looking to continue to add depth to the position — which makes Flowers a prime target in this class.
