Kentucky at Ole Miss: Wednesday injury report revealed

Kentucky at Ole Miss: Wednesday injury report revealed

Fresh off a win over a MAC foe, Kentucky travels south to Ole Miss, vying for its first SEC win after starting 0-2 in conference play already. But the undefeated, Top 10 Rebels are not likely candidates for the Wildcats first win in conference, especially on the road.

And both teams are work to get a number of players back in the swing of things heading into the weekend. With days to go, there’s still plenty of time for some of the banged up players for both teams to get right and give it a go on game day.

Kentucky already got some very welcome injury news this week, when head coach Mark Stoops announced on Monday that running back Chip Trayanum was finally cleared to play.

Trayanum has yet to appear in a game for Kentucky after transferring in from Ohio State this offseason.

A former four-star recruit, Chip Trayanum was ranked as the No. 28 running back in the country in the class of 2020, per the On3 Industry rankings.

He was expected to be the starting running back for the Wildcats in 2024, but he missed the first four games of the season while dealing with a hand injury. Finally it appears that Kentucky fans will get to see what Trayanum is capable of against one of the top teams in the SEC.

On the other sideline, the Rebels are in generally good shape, health-wise. But their head coach is concerned the non-conference slate didn’t prep Ole Miss for the SEC gauntlet.

“I’m a realist,” Lane Kiffin said. “I don’t think our opponents have really prepared us for the SEC play. My hope is our practice and our fall camp has prepared us because we play against really good players on both sides of the ball. Defensively, we play against really big linemen. Same on the other way around.

“The schedule, it is what it is. I hope that our practice has because our practice is similar to what we face.”
