Virginia Tech announces Metallica concert inside Lane Stadium
Virginia Tech has one of the iconic entrances in all of college football, entering to “Enter Sandman” but Metallica. Now, Metallica is coming to play a concert inside Lane Stadium.
The school announced the concert on Thursday morning with a release that shared details on the concert: “Get ready for an unforgettable night in Blacksburg! We’re thrilled to announce that the legendary band, Metallica, will be performing at Lane Stadium.”
The show is set to take place on May 7, 2025 and is part of their M72 World Tour. Tickets for the show will be available starting Monday, September 23, 2024. Those tickets are available through several presale windows and tickets are limited overall. Those windows are available to different groups, including Metallica Legacy Members, Virginia Tech students, and Hokie Club Members.
Each fan buying tickets is going to be limited to four and Virginia Tech students are going to have a two-ticket limit per person. After those presale windows close, there will also be ticket sales for the general public, which starts on Friday, September 17, 2024.

The concert is labeled “Live From The 50-Yard Line” and will see the stage in the middle of Lane Stadium’s field, with a snake pit in the middle. That differs from many stadium concerts, which often put the stage on one end of the field or the other.
The song “Enter Sandman” was released by Metallica in 1991 and since then has become an iconic song for the band. It’s also been heavily used in sports both due to its speed and what the song itself is about. That includes being the entrance music for former New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera and, of course, being the song the Virginia Tech Hokies enter the field at Lane Stadium to.
