3-2-1: A look at potential transfer dominoes for Kansas State

3-2-1: A look at potential transfer dominoes for Kansas State

THREE THINGS WE LEARNED ABOUT KANSAS STATE

1. MOVE-INS: I’m sure it was a relief to both Kansas State coaching staffs. Every expected newcomer for both football and basketball moved onto campus in the past week. There were no bad surprises. That included every K-State football freshman and the transfer additions. The same was the case for the basketball team.

2. MASSEY’S CHOICE: Instead of visiting Kansas, in-state offensive lineman Kaedin Massey will make the trip to Oxford to see Ole Miss. That is how much vitriol that staffer Jake Schoonover has for the Jayhawks after being demoted twice by Lance Leipold. He now works for Lane Kiffin and convinced the Kansas State target to see the Rebels instead of Kansas in June.

3. PRIMETIME: K-State may be slated for 11:00 a.m. CST kickoffs versus Southeast Missouri State and Troy to begin the 2023 season, but a primetime game is also already on the schedule. Though it is a Friday game this year, the Wildcats will play Oklahoma State in Stillwater at 6:30 p.m. CST. The Cowboys will be looking for payback after being drubbed 48-0 by Kansas State last year.

A sign of the times… it’s June, several schools have already started summer classes, and these programs have 3+ scholarships still available:

Kentucky
North Carolina
Kansas
Texas
Alabama
Michigan
Florida
Miami

TWO QUESTIONS

1. WHERE ARE THE PLAYERS: I’m not even talking about players that Kansas State can land before the 2023-2024 season. Obviously, the Wildcats have three spots remaining, but a lot of other teams have three or more spots remaining, too. If you’re thinking the pool is too small for K-State to gather quality, consider how many teams are in the same boat. Something has to give, and I’m not sure what it will be at this point. But plenty of teams are in search of multiple players. It’s June, and not a lot remain available.

2. NKAMHOUA: Who knows where he will land at this point. The once Kansas State transfer target was thought to be deciding between West Virginia and Baylor, but it is being reported that Michigan is back in the mix. The best case scenario for K-State is for the Bears to land Olivier Nkamhoua so that Grant Nelson chooses Alabama. That set of dominoes would make transfer target Arthur Kaluma more attainable.

Michigan is now back in consideration for Tennessee transfer Olivier Nkamhoua, per source. https://t.co/FcF3WtvMYV

ONE K-STATE PREDICTION

1. KALUMA: Will visit
