Recruiting notebook: Nebraska caps off a busy stay in Texas with three new offers at Houston satellite camp
HOUSTON – It was an active night for Nebraska on the recruiting trail in Texas as the Huskers wrapped up their two-day tour at a Satellite Camp event hosted by Houston Christian on the campus of C.E. King High School.
In all, NU made three new scholarship offers at the event alone. For two prospects, it was their first FBS or Power Five offer.

Here is a recap of the new offers from the Houston Christian Satellite Camp. In all four new offers came out of the two-day camp tour.
Tuesday offer report from Houston
HOL take: This one happened fast. Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek defensive back Braylen Prude not only picked up an offer to Nebraska on Tuesday night, but he also set up an official visit to NU on June 16.
The 6-foot-5, 190-pound Prude runs 49.86 seconds in the 400-meter dash and immediately caught the eye of Husker DB coach Evan Cooper. During the camp, Cooper took Prude from drills and pulled him aside for extra work, before head coach Matt Rhule came over to offer.
“I was just thankful and happy and just glad that the coaches pulled the trigger on me for the offer,” Prude told HuskerOnline.
HOL take: Wide receivers coach Garret McGuire was active all week in Texas. He made a third offer this week to a wide receiver, this time in the class of 2024.
McGuire offered Katy (Texas) Jordan wide receiver VanKeith Brown, who already holds offers from K-State, California and UTSA among others. On Monday he offered Temple 2025 WR Christian Tutson.
The 6-foot-5, 190-pound VanKeith is big and explosive. He runs times of 10.6 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 48 seconds in the 400-meter dash. He fits the profile Rhule is looking for – long, fast and athletic.
“I wanted to come out here and show my speed and my size,” Brown said. “I ran a 4.46 40-yard dash, which is not usual for a 6-5 receiver.”
Brown is hoping to visit K-State later this month, and the Huskers may also bring him in for a visit.
HOL take: McGuire’s third offer this week in Texas came to 2025 Houston Willis wide receiver Romel Stevens.
The 6-foot-6, 180-pound Stevens was pulled early in the event by the Huskers staff and confirmed his NU offer shortly after the camp.
Once again, this is another long, rangy, athletic wide-out. That seemed to be the theme at this camp, as it was a very impressive collection of talent overall.
2025 four-star WRs Andrew-Marsh and Quanell-Farrakhan.
Two four-stars for 2025 made an appearance on Tuesday
Two of the bigger-name players that made an appearance on Tuesday at C.E. King High School were from the class of 2025.
Both four-star Katy (Texas) wide receiver Andrew Marsh and four-star Spring (Texas) The Woodlands wide receiver Quanell Farrakhan signed up for the camp but did not take part in drills.
Instead, the duo was greeted by several of the coaches in attendance, including Nebraska.
They are regarded as arguably two of the best wide receivers in the state of Texas for the class of 2025.
Former five-star WR Demond Demas is at Garden City C.C.

Another interesting prospect that showed up to the camp on Tuesday was former five-star wide receiver Demond Demas.
The Tomball (Texas) product did not play football in 2022 after being dismissed at Texas A&M for an off-field incident. He entered the transfer portal in March of 2022 and signed with Garden City in February.
He will have two years to play two, and if all comes out right, he might be one of the most highly recruited players from the junior college ranks in 2024.
“I’m currently at Garden City, and I will graduate in December,” Demas told HuskerOnline on Tuesday. “All of my options are open to every college just like I was in high school.”
Demas said Nebraska is definitely on his radar, as he keeps in regular touch with McGuire.
“We have a good relationship,” Demas said of McGuire. “We talk. We’ve known each other, but now finally had a sit-down and talked. Everything has been good.”
Demas has not taken any visits this summer, and nothing has been set up at this time.
