Detroit Lions fan shot, killed at tailgate after Buccaneers game
A Detroit Lions fan was killed at a tailgate party following Sunday’s victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to police. A suspect is in custody.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the incident took place at approx. 4:30 p.m. ET when a fight started to escalate. As they put up their hands to start fighting, the suspect took out a gun and fired off at least two rounds.
Another person was also taken to the hospital, per the Free Press. Detroit police chief James White spoke with reporters about the situation and confirmed the suspect was licensed to carry a gun.
“Tailgating, drinking and guns. They don’t mix,” White said, via the Detroit Free Press’ Andrea May Sahouri and Jared Ramsey.
