Class of 2025 Macomb (Mich.) Dakota High School linebacker DiMari Malone has been a relatively unknown name on the recruiting trail thus far, but that is starting to change.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound prospect is currently unranked according to the On3 Industry Rankings. The soon-to-be junior has offers from Illinois, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Toledo, Bowling Green, Buffalo, UMass and Morgan State. Five of those offers came on May 22 during his high school’s college combine.

“I performed well at our school’s combine and was rewarded afterwards with five offers that day,” Malone said. “I was a little bit surprised it happened so quickly, but I was super excited because it got me on some coaches’ radars and sparked interest in me.”

Outside of his high school’s combine, Malone has attended camps at Purdue and Youngstown State. He also attended the National College Showcase at Wayne State on June 1.

“I really enjoyed going to the camps and showing the coaches what I’m capable of,” Malone said. “The mega camp at Wayne State was awesome because of just how many different coaches from around the country were there to give me and the rest of the campers that exposure.”

Malone impressed Michigan State grad assistant Antjuan Simmons at the National College Showcase. Simmons was quick to reach out to Malone’s coaches after the event.

“Coach Simmons reached out to my coaches and told them that he liked the way I moved on the field and that he wanted me to come camp at Michigan State this summer,” Malone said.

Malone is set to camp at Michigan State on June 21, while his visit to Michigan is scheduled for Wednesday.

Malone said he is focused on attending camps and receiving more offers this summer. When August comes, his focus will shift back to his junior season at Macomb Dakota.

Michigan State will have to fend off one particular Big Ten foe for Malone’s recruitment, should Malone receive an offer from them following his busy summer.

“The one offer that I really want so far is Wisconsin,” Malone said. “I like Coach (Luke) Fickell there and I also know Amare Snowden, who I played against that will be a freshman there this year. Besides that one, I’m really just going with the flow and hoping I can rack up some more offers.”
