On Tuesday, Tigers head coach Brian Kelly revealed his initial impressions of South Carolina.

“You look at what Shane [Beamer]‘s done — he really gets his team to play well and particularly at home,” Kelly said. “They come off a really great road win against Kentucky 31-6. A lot of it is the type of offense they’re running now with [LaNorris] Sellers at quarterback; [Raheim] Sanders, the transfer from Arkansas; Joshua Simon at tight end.”

After a lackluster 23-19 win over Old Dominion in Week 1, South Carolina looked excellent in its 31-6 blowout win over Kentucky. The Gamecocks’ defense was particularly spectacular, holding the Wildcats’ offense to 183 total yards.

But coming off that win, Beamer doesn’t want his team to be getting big heads.

“The spotlight is is back on us, but we talked this morning that one of the keys for us this Saturday is we got to handle success the right way,” Beamer said. “There’s a lot going on this week that we didn’t have to deal with last week, or that we didn’t get to deal with last week. It’s a positive.

“We need to get used to it, but we need to make sure that we’re handling distractions the right way, and we also have to handle success the right way, and realize that the bandwagon, if you will, is getting full in a lot of ways. And, understanding that there’s people that are on that bandwagon right now, that may jump right off the next time that things don’t go well.
