Geirean Hatchett injury update: Oklahoma OL to miss remainder of 2024 season after bicep surgery
Oklahoma has a laundry list of injuries early in the season, with a lot of them being on the offensive line. Everyone in Norman has been hoping for positive news but on Monday, head coach Brent Venables announced Geirean Hatchett is going to miss the rest of the year due to bicep surgery.
“Brent Venables says on his coach’s show that Geirean Hatchett will miss the rest of the season,” George Stoia of On3’s Sooner Scoop said via X. “He had bicep surgery. He says Nic Anderson will be ready ‘really soon… if not this week, next week.’”
Tucked in there is a good update on the wide receiver front, another position Oklahoma appears to be quite thin at. Anderson has been a massive contributor to the offense and is needed with first-year starting quarterback Jackson Arnold out there.
Best case scenario, Anderson plays on Saturday with Tualne coming to town. Worst case, it’s next Saturday against Tennessee — Oklahoma’s opening game in the SEC.
