Miami Hurricanes showing early interest in top local wide receiver who stood out at Sunday Mario Cristobal camp

Miami Hurricanes showing early interest in top local wide receiver who stood out at Sunday Mario Cristobal camp

Over the weekend, hundreds of athletes made their way down to Coral Gables for Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal’s first camp of the summer, but few had the resume and hype behind their names as Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Monarch High School wide receiver Jabari Brady.

Despite being a 2026 prospect, the young pass catcher is considered to be one of the top receivers in South Florida regardless of class, and he wanted to put that on full display in front of not only Cristobal but the entire Hurricanes coaching staff.

“The biggest reason I wanted to get out here was to work with coach (Kevin) Beard because he’s a good coach to me,” Brady told CaneSport. “Also to show out in front of coach Cristobal so they can have a good look at me.”

With over double-digit offers from the likes of Georgia, Alabama, Florida State, Tennessee, Oregon, and Miami, Brady looks to be shaping out as one of the top prospects in the 2026 cycle, which has not been ranked yet.

“I like every school that has offered me because they’re showing a lot of love, so I like every school,” Brady said. “It feels good to me because it shows me that I’m doing my job as an athlete.”

After offering Brady in January, the Hurricanes have maintained contact with the South Florida native and have explained to him that they not only love his skill set on the field but his mentality and demeanor off the gridiron as well.

“They said they like my personality and how I come to Miami and show them how hard I can work,” Brady said. “I like Miami a lot. With the Miami Hurricanes, it’s just home. They’re right here, so I might as well show love to them.”

Early on, Miami wide receivers coach Kevin Beard has impressed the 6-foot-2, 190-pounder the most after his interactions with the Hurricanes staff, and he is looking forward to strengthening their bond.

“He’s a good coach who teaches releases off the line and everything a receiver needs to know that most receivers don’t know,” Brady said. “He’s a really good coach.”

CaneSport’s take

Although Brady may be a 2026 prospect, we have seen that it is never too early to start recruiting and showing love to the underclassmen, with Miami previously landing a commitment from fellow 2026 athlete Ksani Jiles. This past season at Monarch High School in Broward County, Brady was one of the top wideouts in the area, hauling in 43 receptions for 864 yards and six touchdowns. With that production against some of the top teams in South Florida, it is easy to understand why the Hurricanes have invested in the youngster early, and he has a bright future ahead.
