Sardis (Miss.) North Panola four-star wide receiver JJ Harrell committed to Tennessee on Feb. 27. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, an SEC rival is now trending to flip him.
Ole Miss is leading for Harrell’s commitment at 87.6%. Zach Berry of OM Spirit recently placed an expert prediction for the Rebels to land the 6-foot-0, 185-pound recruit.
“Ole Miss has made JJ Harrell a priority since February and it’s a total team effort,” Berry said. “Head coach Lane Kiffin leads the way, but wide receivers coach Derrick Nix and coordinator of recruiting strategy Kelvin Bolden have also chipped in along the way. The commitment to Tennessee came as a shock to the staff, but they never wavered and have continued to chip away. Kiffin told Harrell that he’s not just wanted, but he’s needed in Oxford.”
Harrell is the No. 123 overall prospect and No. 20 wide receiver in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 player in Mississippi.
On3 rates Harrell higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2024 On300, he is the No. 109 overall prospect, No. 17 wide receiver and No. 1 player in Mississippi.

Despite his pledge to the Volunteers, Harrell is still willing to hear from other schools.
“”My recruitment is just still open,” Harrell told On3’s Sam Spiegelman on May 8. “I’m enjoying this process that I’ve earned. Most definitely a lot of schools have been reaching out. I just had to let them know my recruitment was still open.”
Ole Miss’ 2024 recruiting class is currently No. 19 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 11 in the SEC. It contains nine players: Bay Springs (Miss.) four-star defensive lineman Kamron Beavers, Pascagoula (Miss.) four-star defensive lineman Jeffery Rush, Chandler (Ariz.) Basha four-star quarterback Demond Williams Jr., Picayune (Miss.) Picayune Memorial three-star running back Chris Davis, New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr three-star wide receiver Rahji Dennis, Clarksdale (Miss.) three-star cornerback Patrick Broomfield, Jackson (Miss.) Callaway three-star wide receiver Jeremy Scott Many (La.) Natchitoches Central three-star interior offensive lineman Joseph Cryer and Ellisville (Miss.) Jones College linebacker Raymond Collins.
“The visits are always great at Ole Miss,” Harrell told Berry on Feb 2. “They always make me feel like I’m at home. I go there a lot since I’m just a 10-minute drive down the road.”
