Atlanta (GA) Washington 4-Star Edge Kameryn Fountain is working toward a late summer commitment. Fountain is now the No. 146 overall prospect in the On3 Industry rankings for the class of 2024, has 23 offers and is thankful for every offer he’s earned.
“It’s been a blessing,” Fountain said. “Not everyone gets the recognition that I’m getting right now.”
USC outside linebackers coach Roy Manning offered the talented rising star on Jan. 23. That’s led to many hours on the phone and texting. Fountain told WeAreSC in February he planned to take a USC official visit, but a date wasn’t set until the middle of May.
Fountain and his family just concluded their two-day USC official visit on Sunday June 4.
“It’s a beautiful place out in California and I love the entire coaching staff at USC,” said Fountain. “Most impactful part of the visit was when they had us talk to the professor about our major. I was surprised to learn they were number one in academics.”
Return trip to USC?
One of the more telling signs an out of state recruit is about a school, is when they definitely plan to return for an unofficial visit after a June official. Especially if the prospect plans to announce his school choice by July. So, we asked Fountain if he plans to be back at USC at some point.
“I’ll most definitely be back,” said Fountain. “Before my visit I liked them (USC), but now it’s like they are my main priority.”
Momma Says
I’ve heard many coaches tell me over the years, you gotta recruit the moms as hard as the kids in some cases. Nobody was ever better at winning mom’s commitment than Ed Orgeron. Anytime I’ve seen a moms outwardly express their affinity for a school after a recruiting trip, that school almost always got the son.
On Monday morning there was little doubt about how much Kameryn Fountains mom, Kaycee Crawford, thought about USC.
Vols up next
Fountain also has an official visit set for Tennessee in late June.
“I’m going to Tennessee June 23-25, so I’m hoping to take more visits in June. If that doesn’t work out, I’ll finish taking my visits after the football season.”
