Country singer Scotty McCreery performing at Volleyball Day in Nebraska
Country music singer Scotty McCreery will perform at Volleyball Day in Nebraska on Aug. 30, Husker Athletics announced on Monday.
McCreery has had five consecutive No. 1 hits in the last few years, including “Damn Strait” and “You Time.” After winning American Idol in 2011, McCreery has had four albums debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Albums chart.
The country star is performing at the historic Volleyball Day in Nebraska at Memorial Stadium. Nebraska Athletics is the first college volleyball program to play a volleyball match inside a stadium.

The Huskers will take on Omaha at 7:00 p.m. on Aug. 30. Nebraska-Kearney and Wayne State College will start the day with a match at 4:30 p.m. CT.
McCreery will perform after both matches in front of a sold-out crowd. Nebraska has sold over 91,000 tickets to the event, which could bring the all-time women’s sporting event attendance record.

The 32-year-old country singer is familiar with Husker fans and Memorial Stadium. He sang the National Anthem in Memorial Stadium before Nebraska football’s 56-7 win over Northwestern on Oct. 2, 2021.
Additionally, Nebraska said in a statement that the Nebraska Board of Regents will review a proposal to serve alcohol during the event at their June 22 meeting.
The Husker volleyball team is currently in Brazil on their international trip.
