Inside Scoop: Corian Gipson and Brandon Baker intel, latest from top 2025s after Elite Camp experience

We start with the latest on two top 2024s before diving into the returns from 2025 prospects following Texas’ Elite Camp over the weekend. Grab a spoon, there’ll be plenty of Scoop to enjoy today.

Corian Gipson, CB/DB, Lancaster (Texas) High

The On3 Industry Ranking 4-star defensive back made his official visit to Clemson over the weekend. That marked his third trip to Clemson since March 26, all with family members. One recurring thought by people close to the Lancaster program is that his mom prefers a small town college environment away from the DFW area.

Dabo Swinney is pushing for a commitment from Gipson and a shutting down of the process. Swinney has had plenty of success with his recruiting strategy. If Gipson doesn’t commit this week to Clemson and continues with the June official visit process, that isn’t ideal news for the Tigers. Clemson was the dream offer, and the visits to the school have done nothing to make Gipson change his mind on Clemson being that childhood favorite.

The Texas side remains optimistic in the recruitment of Gipson. Communication is strong with multiple members of the the Longhorn staff. The whole key for Texas is Gipson remaining locked into finishing the June official visit process. Gipson is currently scheduled to be at Texas June 23-25, which happens to be his birthday weekend.

Brandon Baker, OT, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei

The No. 1 ranked offensive tackle in the 2024 cycle is expected to make a June official visit to Texas. Baker and family are in talks with Steve Sarkisian and Kyle Flood on the best date, with Texas targeting June 16-18.

The 6-foot-4.5, 285-pounder will visit Ohio State this weekend, and has Georgia scheduled for June 23-25. Oregon and Texas are the two schools expected to receive official visits prior to a decision before the start of Baker’s senior season.

Juan Gaston, OT, Atlanta (Ga.) Westlake – 2025

Thanks to an invite from Flood, Gaston made it to Texas for the first time over the weekend and camped with the Longhorns. Flood told Gaston the 3rd would be the best date for him since other top recruits would be in town.

He enjoyed the facilities and their quality was one of Gaston’s biggest takeaways, but the bond between players stood out to him too.

Gaston said culture, environment, and a winning team were the three biggest factors for him, but Texas’ SEC move also caught his eye. When asked which school talks to him the most, Gaston said “really everybody” but the school standing out to him currently is South Carolina thanks to the volume of letters the Gamecocks have sent Gaston’s way.

Gaston said on Saturday he didn’t have any upcoming visits. In May, he told On3’s Jeremy Johnson his visit plans for the month of June. He told Johnson the Tennessee Volunteers will get a visit on June 8 followed by Ohio State on June 15. Then, the Oregon Ducks will host Gaston on June 22. He’ll fly cross-country right after to visit South Carolina on June 24.

When asked if he’ll be back for a game in the fall, Gaston responded “probably.” He called the visit to Texas a great first impression.

Gaston is the No. 97 prospect in the country, the No. 1 interior offensive lineman, and the No. 14 prospect in Georgia in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking.

Andrew Marsh, WR, Katy (Texas) Jordan – 2025

One of the top 2025 wideouts in the country enjoyed the football and non-football aspects of his visit, all the way down to his vanilla ice cream with gummy worms. His biggest takeaway from the camp was seeing how Chris Jackson coaches, teaches, and interacts with players.

Marsh visited Texas in March. That was his first chance to meet with Jackson upon his arrival from the NFL. Marsh said the relationship has grown in recent months thanks to effort from both sides, but also due to Jackson’s visits to Katy during the evaluation period. Marsh feels like one of Jackson’s priorities in the 2025 class, and Marsh wants to continue to build the relationship.

Away from football, Marsh liked how attentive coaches, players, and staffers were during the day. He found people in burnt orange personable and easy to talk to after his camp performance. He thought highly of the SEC move, and said the people and relationships are what keeps him coming back to Texas.

Marsh just interacted with Michigan coaches at the Sound Mind Sound Body National College Showcase held on Wayne State’s campus in Detroit, learning a lot about Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines. He had positive remarks about the experience.

Marsh saw Houston the day before the Texas camp. He’ll visit Oklahoma this week then see LSU in two weeks.

Marsh is the No. 22 overall prospect, the No. 5 wide receiver, and the No. 3 player in Texas in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking.

Jacorey Watson, WR, Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek – 2025

Watson was 74-for-118 for 952 yards and 13 touchdowns for Shadow Creek in 2022, but his future is at wide receiver.

Watson said the experience made him feel like he was at home, and while he didn’t participate in the camp he enjoyed watching Jackson coach and partaking in the pool party festivities after. While speaking with reporters, Watson said everybody treated him like family and even repeated the program’s “All Gas, No Brakes” mantra.

Watson said Jackson “was like family” and like Marsh, noted the Texas wide receivers coach made it through Shadow Creek several times during the spring.

Position wise, there wasn’t a specific wideout role Texas talked about with Watson. Watson sees how Xavier Worthy is utilized all over the field, and wants to do something similar at Texas.

Watson said he will see USC on June 14, his first time seeing the Trojans. He said he wants to be back for a Texas game in the fall. Schools standing out to him include TCU, LSU, Oregon, and Colorado.

Dakorien Moore, WR, Duncanville (Texas) – 2025

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound jet told Inside Texas on Sunday that Texas was at the top of his list. In speaking with Moore at Duncanville in May and again on the phone Sunday, LSU continues to be the team that is the biggest threat to the Longhorns.

Moore is close with Duncanville High 2025 quarterback Keelon Russell, but is closer with 2025 defensive back Javion Holiday (We will have more on Holiday). The 6-foot-3.5 Russell will camp at LSU this week, and could be offered. LSU has offered three quarterbacks in the 2025 cycle, and isn’t considered a clear leader for any. An offer to Russell with an impressive workout wouldn’t be out of the question. An LSU offer would give the Tigers even a little more juice at the DFW powerhouse.

Texas has a great quarterback room, and the offensive scheme that can place Moore in the best position to be successful. Moore knows that. With his mom being from Austin, her still having family in the area, and the Moores holding a liking for Texas, the Longhorns continue to figure to be tough to beat.

Landon Rink, DL, Cypress ( Texas) Cy-Fair – 2025

Inside Texas caught up with the 6-foot-2, 265-pounder Sunday. He weighed in Saturday at Elite Camp at 265, for those wondering.

Texas remains the team to beat, of that there is little doubt. The Rink family will have a nice go to in the recruitment by Texas. Rink’s father is very close with Westlake defensive line coach and former Texas teammate Brian Vasek. Of course, Vasek is the father of Texas freshman Colton Vasek

IT expects Rink to make the visits June 8 to Texas A&M and June 15 to Oklahoma. Baylor is a possibility this summer. He will be back at Texas, most likely the June 23 weekend when teammate and 2024 quarterback commitment Trey Owens is making his official visit.

Tyler Thomas, OL, Dickinson (Texas) – 2025

Inside Texas had the 6-foot-4, 315-pound Thomas on offer watch since mid-May. At that time, IT spoke with a source close to the Dickinson program that informed us that Flood was by the school, and dubbed Thomas a “large human”.

We expect Texas to be right there in the Thomas recruitment. Thomas camped at Texas Tech last week prior to Texas. He’s expected at Texas A&M, Oklahoma and others in June as well.
