Head coach Mike Norvell didn’t wait until he was in a private setting to dig into his team. He huddled his Seminoles on the field before going into the locker room for what appeared to be an intense speech amid their offensive struggles. Before leading his team into the tunnel, he explained the message he sent to his team.

“It was about as bad a start as we could have looked at. And I mean to be down just one one possession, obviously we got to come out and gotta play a lot cleaner football. We’ve had too many mistakes. We’ve got to do much better on third downs, offensively and defensively. Our defense responded there in the second quarter and we’ve got 30 minutes go play possessions.”

Right before halftime, Florida State was able to push the ball inside the Boston College 10-yard-line. Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei failed to convert in the end zone on pass plays on all the downs with goal to go.

“We got to be able to finish in the end zone,” Norvell continued. “We’ve had some mistakes. We had some missed connections. We’ve got to make sure we just calm down, go out there, throw and catch, we’ve got to be able to establish the run game. We’ve had limited possessions and a lot of that’s there. Gotta be able to execute on third downs as well.”

Uiagalelei entered the second half having completed 8 of 21 passes for 108 yards while Florida State was held to 10 rushing yards across the first two quarters of action. During the first half, fans could be heard calling for backup quarterback Brock Glenn to enter the game.

The Seminoles will look to bounce back in the second half and take avoid falling to 0-2 for the first time since 2021. Fans can watch the ‘Noles attempted comeback live on ESPN and the ESPN app.
