Penn State football starts its 138th season on the road in Morgantown today. The Nittany Lions clash with West Virginia for the 61st time when the two sides meet inside of Milan Puskar Stadium. A sell out crowd is expected for what should be the last meeting between the non-conference foes for quite some time.
“Going to West Virginia to start the season, it’s great,” Lions coach James Franklin said Wednesday night. “This is going to be a tough game. It’s going to be a tough environment. Got a lot of respect for them. They’re confident after how their season ended, so it’s going to be a challenge. But, I do think we have enough veterans coming back that have opened in some of these [road Week 1] games before, and that’s helpful.”

Series facts: PSU holds a 49-9-2 all-time advantage in this series. The Nittany Lions are looking to turn a five-game winning streak into six. They last lost in Morgantown in 1988.
Penn State-West Virginia betting line
Penn State opened as a 12.5-point favorite at various sportsbooks earlier this summer. Unlike last year, though, the line has dropped since. As of Saturday morning, the Lions are now an 8-point favorite.
As for the betting total, it sits at 51.5 points.
