On3 top-50 OT Guerby Lambert recaps Notre Dame visit: ‘It was an amazing experience’

West Roxbury (Mass.) Catholic Memorial four-star offensive tackle Guerby Lambert hasn’t taken many visits up to this point in his recruitment. That’s set to change this month though.

The 6-foot-7, 285-pounder has four official visits lined up this month and kicked things off with his first trip up to Notre Dame.

““It was even better than I expected,” Lambert told On3. “I know Boubacar (Traore) always talked about them highly but it was a great experience. They have coaches who were really nice to me and my family. It was an overall great experience.

“The buildings are always going to be there but it was the people who really stood out. The coaches and even the players, we had a real bond and had a great time.”

Getting Lambert on campus early in the spring was a major plus for the Fighting Irish who are right in the mix in his recruitment. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), Notre Dame has the fourth highest odds to land his pledge 17.4%.

Boston College sits at the top at 27.8% while Penn State 24.4% and Ohio State (20.9%) trail close behind. Each of those schools will also receive an official from Lambert this month.

The odds may not have Notre Dame as the favorite at this point but getting to meet head coach Marcus Freeman and offensive line coach Joe Rudolph in-person only helped the Fighting Irish.

There’s not a lot of head coaches that can just sit with you at lunch and have a normal conversation,” said Lamber, the No. 32 player in the 2024 On300. “He cares about the person more than the player. Of course he wants to win football games and do well football-wise, but he cares who we are as people and I think that’s really important to have.

“It was really nice talking to Coach Rudolph. We’re still building this relationship but we have a pretty strong relationship already. Hearing how the players talk so highly was big because they say they love him and they love his coaching style.”

Lambert said that he talked with Freeman and Rudolph about his recruiting experience and the schools he was looking at. While they didn’t bash those schools, Lamber said that they let him know instead why Notre Dame was the right fit for him in their view.

“It’s really high right now especially after the visit,” Lambert said. “It was an amazing experience and I think really highly of them.”
